My work has evolved into increasing intimacy with the worlds beyond the physical, into the domain of the energy behind form, which has become the basis of my life. By changing the matrix and the context, new order and structure spontaneously emerge.

For now more than 30 years I have been weaving together my skills as herbalist, scientist, poet and intuitive to facilitate balance and harmony and transformation for my students and clients alike.  Throughout my life I have been exploring the mystery and magic of nature and the human experience, and the essence of health and healing.

"I seek to inspire you by expanding your understanding
of who you are and how your body works."

And how you too can engage nature in many forms to remember your wholeness and express more of your radiance into the world.

I am available for personal coaching and consultation.  An appointment includes compassionate witness and chakra balancing in combination with meridian tapping and 'energy medicines' such as  homeopathic remedies and flower essences and herbal and nutrition recommendations as indicated.  You will also have the option to receive a customized Faerie Essence Blend to support the smooth integration of the work into your life.

Group settings are also a wonderful way to learn and share with like-minded individuals and friends.  I hold healing circles, year journeys, workshops and classes in my home and other locations in the greater Ann Arbor area and as an invited workshop presenter statewide and internationally.

My healing and soothing skin salves are a fantastic addition to any 'healer's toolkit' especially families with young children or companion animals.  I also offer custom salves to address unique situations.

Education and Academic Training

Bronwen Gates is a graduate of Cambridge University in England where she earned a degree in Natural Sciences. Following her passion to inspire people with the wonder and mystery of the natural world, Bronwen also earned a graduate degree in Education from the University of London, and spent four years teaching Biology to inner city youth.

At 26, Bronwen moved to New York City.  As a non-citizen, she volunteered, first at the American Museum of Natural History, and then at The New York Botanical Garden where Dr. William R. Anderson, one of the  Botanical Garden Faculty, encouraged her to join the Graduate Program at the Gardens.  Bronwen completed her Masters Degree in Botany through City University of New York and when Dr. Anderson was appointed to the faculty of the University of Michigan, he invited her to continue her studies with him. Bronwen conducted fieldwork in Venezuela and Brazil, earned her Ph. D. in Botany from the University of Michigan in 1977, and in 1982 published a major monograph on the genus Banisteriopsis in Flora Neotropica, through The New York Botanical Garden.

In 1987 Bronwen took a position in program development with the Women in Science Program at the University of Michigan and then took on the challenge of developing and directing a Teacher Training Program, with the focus on multicultural sensitivity, for Graduate Student Assistants at the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences. During that time Bronwen also lectured in Biology and Botany at the University of Michigan and Human Biology and Human Anatomy and Physiology at Washtenaw Community College.

In 1995, Bronwen left the University to engage full-time in her research and teaching of energy medicine and the establishment of her healing practice.

I was born and grew up in northern England, surrounded by sea and mountains, marsh and meadows, so Nature was and continues to be my ever-present teacher.

"I was endlessly enthralled by the gifts
I received from my contact
with the natural world."

It was during my thesis research that my latent interest in the healing gifts of plants began to emerge, and my fascination with the role of belief in our experience of health and wellbeing became a central tenet of my life.  I became personally invested in learning about how to support health and healing with the birth of my three children, now adults.
